Royal Thonga Safari Lodge is located 4h41 drive from Durban and 7h07 drive from Johannesburg, in the Big 5 Tembe Elephant Park.
The lodge offers 14 chalets, offering total privacy within the Sand Forest. There are 9 Bush Chalets, 1 Deluxe Bush Chalet, 2 one-bedroom Family Bush Chalets, and 2 two-bedroom Family Bush Chalets. The chalets all have outside showers, and uncluttered views of the forest.
The main lodge has a contemporary, simple style, mixed with natural materials, textures and recycled wood. Facilities include a restaurant, lounge, library, bar, and lap pool.
Additional activities on offer at Royal Thonga: – a Tembe Elephant Park game drive, a Three Lakes boat trip, a beach day and snorkeling at Kosi Mouth, canoeing on Kosi Swamp, an exploration of the historical fish traps and beach braai, scuba diving in Sodwana, a Raffia forest walk, a butterfly observation within Tembe Elephant Park, a Jozini boat trip, a Sand Forest guided walk and Turtle tracking.
